The U.S. Department of State has officially granted a cooperative agreement to the Atlantic Council for the implementation of the AI Connect II program.
This initiative extends the engagement established under the “Promoting American Leadership, Democratic Values, and Economic Prosperity in Artificial Intelligence (AI)” initiative.
Funded by the Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy’s (CDP) Digital Connectivity and Cybersecurity Partnership (DCCP), the project aims to advance an open, interoperable, reliable, and secure digital economy.
AI Connect II is strategically designed to promote the responsible stewardship of AI technologies, aligning with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) AI Principles.
The primary focus is to empower low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), enabling their more effective participation in global, multi-stakeholder discussions on AI policy.
This project will assemble a cohort of 150 individuals, including policymakers, academics, practitioners, and private sector representatives from selected countries.
The Atlantic Council, in collaboration with subject matter experts, will work closely with participants to assist in the development of robust AI strategies for their respective nations. The initiative seeks to foster connections among individuals working in the same region on responsible AI development while amplifying their voices in international forums. The overarching goal is to facilitate more inclusive global conversations on AI policy.
