Assistant Secretary Geoffrey R. Pyatt is set to lead the U.S. Department of State’s delegation to CERAWeek, the world’s premier energy conference, taking place in Houston from March 18–21.
This high-level delegation will engage with American private sector leaders and government officials, contributing to panels covering a spectrum of critical energy topics.
During the conference, Assistant Secretary Pyatt will address key issues such as U.S. support for Ukraine, global energy security, and the vital diversification of critical mineral supply chains. Moreso, discussions will centre on U.S. initiatives aimed at enhancing energy access and advancing decarbonisation efforts within the energy sector.
Of notable importance, Assistant Secretary Pyatt will hold discussions with India’s Consul General in Houston, emphasising recent developments in clean energy and exploring opportunities for collaboration between U.S. and Indian companies.
At the heart of the discussions will be the pivotal role of U.S. energy diplomacy, particularly concerning support for Ukraine and its energy sector, critical minerals, and efforts to enhance energy security and promote decarbonisation across various regions worldwide.
Assistant Secretary Pyatt and the ENR delegation will engage in dialogues with both governmental and private sector counterparts, focusing on ensuring resilient and diversified supply chains for the energy transition. Additional topics of discussion will include Russia’s energy sanctions, oil price stabilisation measures, and strategies to foster greater gender diversity within the energy sector.
CERAWeek serves as an annual platform for convening key global stakeholders from government and the private sector, providing a critical forum for shaping the future of the global energy landscape.
