Swiftship, a military manufacturing company based in the United States, has made a significant contribution to Nigeria’s defense capabilities.
The company has generously donated two state-of-the-art unmanned water vessels, namely the S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, to the Nigerian government.
The donation took place during a visit by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, who had traveled to the United States to inspect the facilities of high-tech military hardware companies in the country.
The presentation of the unmanned vessels to President Bola Tinubu was highlighted in a statement released by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Henshaw Ogubike, on Friday.
During the presentation, Minister Matawalle emphasized the importance of these hi-tech unmanned water vessels in enhancing maritime security in Nigeria.
He expressed that the equipment would be deployed to critical areas such as the Niger Delta, Lake Chad region, and other maritime zones, contributing to the overall efforts to combat insecurity.
The statement outlined, “The Minister of State for Defence presented two hi-tech unmanned water vessels to President Bola Tinubu in the Villa to help fight against insecurity on our waterways in particular and the nation in general. The two unmanned ships were donated by Swift Ship Company in the USA to the Nigerian government.”
Minister Matawalle further explained that these vessels, known as the S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, represent the latest technology available for maritime security.
The donation is expected to significantly bolster Nigeria’s capabilities in addressing security challenges in strategic water regions.
The minister’s recent visit to the United States included inspections of various high-tech military hardware companies, including NEANY, Swift Ships, and OCR Global. Swiftship’s donation underscores the importance of international collaborations in enhancing Nigeria’s defense infrastructure and capabilities.
