VeryDarkMan, a prominent Nigerian activist, has reaffirmed his stance in the ongoing defamation lawsuit filed by renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, musician Falz.
The controversy surrounding an audio recording allegedly featuring popular crossdresser Bobrisky has sparked intense debate on freedom of speech, corruption, and accountability.
The audio recording, which VeryDarkMan shared on social media, claimed that Falz and Femi Falana attempted to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million. However, Bobrisky promptly denied the recording’s authenticity and threatened legal action against VeryDarkMan. The Falana family echoed this sentiment, demanding a retraction and apology.
Despite the backlash, VeryDarkMan remains resolute, arguing that he exposed corruption rather than defamed the Falana family. “I don’t see anything wrong with what I did, so I’m not apologizing,” he stated on Instagram.
An Ikeja High Court ruling ordered VeryDarkMan to delete defamatory content from his social media platforms and refrain from further publications. Undeterred, VeryDarkMan filed two separate motions seeking permission to appeal the ruling.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, VeryDarkMan recently appeared in Lagos for the hearing. The case has garnered significant attention, sparking conversations on the intersection of social media activism, corruption, and the legal system.
