Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima has initiated the launch of a training program aimed at digitalizing workflow processes within the State House.
The event, held on March 25th, 2024, according to Shettima highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to fostering an efficient workforce aligned with technological advancements.
Representing the Vice President at the opening ceremony was Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President). Sen. Shettima highlighted the imperative of embracing digital initiatives to transform public service delivery. He stated President Tinubu’s vision, that leveraging opportunities in machine learning and artificial intelligence requires workforce readiness and adaptability.
The Vice President stated the necessity of departing from outdated paper-based bureaucracy, asserting that it impedes responsiveness to contemporary demands. He stressed the need for civil servants to embrace digital technologies, positioning Nigeria at the forefront of global innovation.
The training aims to equip staff with essential skills for handling sensitive government information and responding effectively to public inquiries. Permanent Secretary Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi expressed gratitude for President Tinubu’s support, affirming the administration’s commitment to enhancing workforce productivity through digitalization.
In attendance was Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), who stated the important role of information management in national security and governance.
He mentioned the objective of the training which aim at improving manual systems and optimizing service delivery through information technology adoption.
