Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool as West Ham secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.
Jarrod Bowen proved to be the match-winner, scoring his 50th Premier League goal late in the first half. The winger initiated the move by collecting a loose ball on the edge of his own box before linking up with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Bowen then met the full-back’s cross with a well-placed header, putting the Hammers ahead.
Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to break down a resolute West Ham defence and failed to produce their usual attacking fluidity. Leandro Trossard forced a low save from Alphonse Areola, but Arsenal’s hopes of a comeback suffered a significant setback when Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off for a professional foul on Mohammed Kudus.
