Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2025APCS).
The summit, which runs from October 27 to 29 at Expo City Dubai, is a global platform that brings together mayors, city leaders, business executives, and young professionals to discuss sustainable urban development and explore trade and investment opportunities across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.
Wike departed Abuja on Sunday and landed in Dubai early Monday morning at around 4 a.m. He was warmly received by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim, alongside senior officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), including the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Yunana Dauda.
During the summit, Wike is scheduled to lead a discussion panel where he will engage with mayors from other capital cities. The session will focus on sharing experiences and exploring best practices in urban governance and development. According to organizers, this dialogue is expected to foster innovative approaches to city management and sustainable growth.
The 2025APCS is an initiative of the Brisbane City Council, Australia, and is regarded as one of the most diverse gatherings of city leaders and business executives worldwide. The summit aims to deliver long-term value for cities and businesses seeking trade and investment partnerships across multiple regions, enhancing global cooperation and knowledge exchange.
In his tenure as FCT Minister, Wike has actively promoted collaboration to attract both local and international investments to Abuja. His participation in the summit underscores the administration’s commitment to transforming the city into a model for sustainable economic growth in Africa. “Engagement with global city leaders provides an opportunity to showcase Abuja’s potential and attract meaningful investments,” Wike said.
As the summit progresses, Wike’s involvement is expected to increase Abuja’s visibility on the international stage. His discussions with global city leaders are anticipated to yield partnerships that align with the city’s development goals and further strengthen its economic and infrastructural growth trajectory.
