Wike Commends Tinubu For Lifting Rivers Emergency Rule

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency imposed on Rivers State six months ago.

Wike described the President’s action as a demonstration of his commitment to restoring peace and democratic governance in the oil-rich state.

“The decision of President Tinubu has saved our state and restored the confidence of the people in his leadership. Rivers State can now focus on peace, progress, and development,” Wike said in a statement.

He urged political actors in the state to put aside their differences and work together in the interest of the people, while also warning against those seeking to exploit the crisis for selfish reasons.

President Tinubu had earlier announced the end of the emergency rule, directing Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the State House of Assembly members to resume office. The emergency was declared in March following heightened political tension and a breakdown of order in the state.
