Finidi Aims for Maximum Points in 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Against South Africa and Benin

Ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria’s national team coach, Finidi George, is targeting maximum points against South Africa and Benin Republic.

The Super Eagles are set to host South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in the third matchday of qualifiers before facing Benin’s Cheetahs in the fourth matchday.

Speaking to reporters during a visit to the Nigeria Football Federation office in Abuja, the former Ajax winger expressed his determination to secure victories in both matches.

“Qualifying for the World Cup is a collective responsibility for all Nigerians. As the coach, I feel the weight of this responsibility to ensure success in the upcoming matches against South Africa and Benin Republic,” Finidi stated.

He emphasized his commitment to preparing the team adequately, noting, “I am in touch with the players, and they are eager to give their best after missing out on the last edition in Qatar.”

Regarding scouting the opponents, Finidi mentioned, “I have been following their performances closely to understand their strengths and weaknesses.” The new Super Eagles boss concluded.
