In a celebration of two decades of collaboration between the Department of State and the World Food Prize Foundation, the 2024 World Food Prize Laureate will be announced at the ceremony on May 9th.
The event, to be held in the Benjamin Franklin Room at the Department of State, will commence at 9:30 a.m. with remarks from Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken.
The President of the World Food Prize Foundation, Ambassador Terry Branstad, will then reveal this year’s Laureates, marking the 38th anniversary of the establishment of the esteemed award. Recognizing individuals who have significantly contributed to advancing human development through improvements in food quality, quantity, or availability, the World Food Prize holds a distinguished position in the global arena.
Media coverage of the event is invited, with pre-set camera time scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the Department of State’s 23rd Street entrance. Writers and still photographers will have final access at 9:15 a.m. from the same entrance. However, it is important to note that there is no parking available at the venue, and press personnel will undergo security screening upon arrival.
To attend, media representatives must present valid credentials, including either a U.S. Government-issued photo media credential or an official photo identification card from their respective news organizations.
Alternatively, a letter from their employer on official letterhead verifying their status as a journalist will suffice. Additionally, government-issued photo identification, such as a U.S. driver’s license or passport, or a foreign passport, is required for entry.
