Veteran Nollywood actor, Yemi Sholade, has sparked heated debate online after opening up about his decision to stop attending church.
Speaking during an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, the actor revealed that he placed a curse on a pastor who once advised him not to accept film production jobs scheduled for Sundays.
According to Sholade, the pastor’s advice felt like an indirect attempt to stop him from making money, money he could have given as offerings in church. He explained that the experience pushed him away from church completely.
The actor further emphasized that there is no divine law that limits worship to Sundays, noting that people can connect with God on any day of the week. His bold statements have stirred conversations across social media, with many weighing in on his views.
In addition to his comments on religion, Sholade also reflected on his acting career. He recalled starting out at the age of 17 and representing Nigeria at the historic Festac ’77 cultural event. While boasting about his career achievements and comparing himself to legendary actor Pete Edochie, fans reminded him that Edochie’s impact especially with his role in the classic film Things Fall Apart-remains unmatched.
