President Tinubu Attends APC Chairman’s Mother’s Funeral In Plateau

President Bola Tinubu has traveled to Jos, Plateau State, to attend the funeral prayers of Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, the mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Professor Nantewe Yilwatda Goshwe.

According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will also address church leaders across the North at the COCIN Church headquarters in Jos.

The President’s visit is a gesture of goodwill and support to the APC Chairman and his family during this difficult time. Tinubu had earlier condoled with Professor Yilwatda following the passing of his mother at 83 years old, describing her as “a woman of virtue who lived a life dedicated to faith, service, and community.”

During his visit, Tinubu will engage with religious leaders, urging them to promote love and unity above religious and ethnic divisions. He emphasized the need for strong political will to restore lasting peace to affected communities in Plateau State. “Love and unity must rise above religious and ethnic divisions,” Tinubu said, calling on leaders to end cycles of reprisal attacks.

The APC Chairman’s mother was known for her dedication to her community, and her passing has been mourned by many. Tinubu’s visit demonstrates his commitment to supporting the people of Plateau State and promoting peace in the region.

Tinubu is scheduled to return to Lagos the same day after the engagements in Jos. The President’s visit follows his earlier condemnation of the incessant killings in Plateau State earlier this year.

In his condolence message, Tinubu prayed for the soul’s repose and asked God to grant the family strength to bear the painful loss. He also extended sympathies to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and urged strong political will to restore lasting peace to affected communities.
