Former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has denied reports suggesting he intends to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He emphasized that he has no plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The rumors emerged after Suswam was invited by Governor Hyacinth Alia to a state dinner in Makurdi. Some reports claimed that he might use the event to announce a defection to the APC, fueling speculation across social media and political circles.
Suswam’s media aide, Bede Bartholomew, clarified that the former governor’s attendance at the dinner was purely ceremonial. He stressed that the visit should not be interpreted as a political shift or intention to switch parties.
This clarification comes amid ongoing political discussions in Benue State, where analysts and stakeholders have been closely monitoring movements and alliances ahead of upcoming elections.
In past interviews, Suswam had expressed frustration with internal disputes within the PDP, hinting at the possibility of exploring other political options. However, he made it clear that these earlier concerns have not translated into any immediate plan to defect.
The former governor reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, dispelling speculation of joining the APC and underscoring his commitment to contributing to the party’s future success in Benue State.
