Mbah: Enugu South Group Dumps PDP, Aligns With APC

In a significant political development, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State, together with the influential Enugu South Advocates group, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This move aligns with Governor Mbah’s recent defection and signals a major shift in the state’s political landscape.

The announcement was made during a rally at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu, where Hon. Uche Kelvin Edeh, leader of the Enugu South Advocates, affirmed the group’s commitment to the APC. Edeh explained that the decision was the result of careful reflection on the state’s political direction and the need to collaborate with the federal government to boost development.

Governor Mbah, who defected to the APC earlier this week along with members of the state executive council, emphasized that the move aims to align Enugu State with the federal government to foster development and inclusion. He said, “Today marks a new beginning, the end of years of being on the sidelines.”

This development represents a substantial change in Enugu’s political environment, traditionally dominated by the PDP, and could influence future political dynamics. Analysts suggest that the defection is likely to reshape alliances ahead of upcoming elections and impact the state’s political trajectory.

The move by the Enugu South Advocates is part of a broader pattern of political realignments across Nigeria. Several other political figures and groups have made similar shifts to align with the federal government and influence the political direction of their states.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the impact of these defections on governance and future elections in Enugu State remains to be seen. Observers will be closely monitoring how this realignment affects the state’s political dynamics and its relationship with the federal government.
