Senator Ned Nwoko has broken his silence on the ongoing tension in his marriage with Nollywood star Regina Daniels, linking their crisis to what he described as her “battle with drugs and alcohol abuse.”
The lawmaker made the revelation following a viral video showing Regina Daniels in distress, alleging that her husband had subjected her to violence. In the clip, the actress was seen lamenting, saying, “In Ned Nwoko’s house I am nothing, but in my own house I am a queen. Not again, I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.” The emotional video sparked widespread concern and public reactions, with the actress’s brother vowing on social media to protect her.
Reacting to the controversy, Nwoko denied the allegations of domestic violence, insisting that the real issue was his wife’s alleged substance addiction. In a post on his official X handle, he wrote, “Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety.”
According to the Delta North senator, he had made several efforts to help his wife recover but claimed she resisted any attempt to seek treatment. “The truth is, I have set a clear condition for her to accept rehab in Asokoro or outside Nigeria, especially Jordan, where she will not have access to drugs,” he explained.
Nwoko further alleged that Regina had displayed violent behaviour in their home, claiming she attacked domestic staff and destroyed property. “She is the violent one here, slapping and hitting staff in the past 48 hours and destroying cars and windows for no just cause,” he stated. The senator also accused some individuals of enabling her alleged addiction, saying, “A scene of chaos unfolded at home, orchestrated by Sammy, Regina’s main drug supplier. Another known supplier of drugs to Regina is the tiny evil devil called Ann.”
The lawmaker concluded by insisting he had never raised his hand against any of his wives, urging Regina to focus on rehabilitation. “I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence,” Nwoko maintained, expressing hope that his spouse would recover soon.
