Nkechi Blessing Returns To Mainland After Narrow Escape From Lekki Ceiling Collapse

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has returned to her Mainland home in Lagos after narrowly escaping injury for the second time in two months due to a collapsed Plaster of Paris (POP) ceiling at her Lekki residence.

The actress shared a video of the wreckage on social media, expressing frustration over what she described as substandard construction in the Lekki area.

In her Instagram post, Nkechi highlighted the recurring structural issues in the city, saying, “I built this house in 2021, and to date, not a single thing don shift. The way these Lekki developers build substandard houses and give it out at ridiculous prices is alarming.” She also hinted at relocating back to her bush home, noting the dangers of staying in poorly built homes.

The incident comes after a similar string of occurrences in Lagos, where celebrities and public figures have narrowly avoided injuries from collapsing ceilings. In June, actress Bolaji Ogunmola survived both a car accident and a sitting room POP ceiling collapse. Likewise, BBNaija star Chichi escaped unharmed when her bedroom ceiling fell, while skitmaker Zics Aloma avoided disaster after his living room ceiling gave way, thankfully leaving him and his crew safe.

Nkechi’s latest ordeal has reignited discussions about construction standards in Lekki, where developers are accused of selling poorly constructed homes at high prices without proper quality control. The repeated incidents have prompted calls for stricter building regulations and more accountability from developers in rapidly developing areas.

Despite the frightening experience, Nkechi has expressed relief at returning safely to her Mainland home, which she noted has remained structurally sound since its completion in 2021. Her post reflects both a personal warning and a broader concern for safety in urban residential developments.

This string of ceiling collapses serves as a reminder of the potential risks of substandard construction and emphasizes the importance of prioritizing safety over profit in the real estate sector.
