Erigga Warns That Blaqbonez, Odumodublvck Feud Is Damaging Nigerian Hip Hop

Nigerian rapper Erigga has voiced concern over the ongoing rift between his fellow artists, Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck, describing their feud as unhealthy for the country’s hip hop scene.

Speaking in an interview with Yanga FM, Erigga said the confrontation between both rappers is not promoting unity within the industry but rather creating unnecessary tension.

According to him, while lyrical battles have always been part of hip hop culture, the present clash between Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck has gone beyond healthy competition. He noted that the dispute has drawn in fans and critics who do not necessarily support the genre but are only interested in fueling the controversy. “Nigerian fans like it when rappers fight. The ongoing beef between Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez is bad for the culture because it enables people who don’t love our culture to bring in their crazy opinions,” Erigga explained.

The Warri-born rapper expressed disappointment that the situation has divided the fan base and distracted from the true essence of the art form. He said that instead of building bridges, the beef has led to unnecessary rivalry among artists and fans. “Beef isn’t really good for the music business, especially for hip hop. It brings traction but it doesn’t help the culture. Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck are beefing, and they’re both my close colleagues, so the room now is a bit tensed,” he said.

Erigga advised that rather than amplifying disputes, artists should focus on creativity, growth, and celebrating collective achievements in the industry. He noted that unity among rappers would help elevate Nigerian hip hop to international recognition. “When last did you see them celebrating hip hop achievements? They only come around when the culture is heated,” he lamented.

He also blamed the audience for encouraging division, saying that many people online seem to be more excited by conflict than by musical excellence. According to him, the negative energy generated by the feud could discourage younger artists who look up to established rappers. “People are hyping their beef not because they love hip hop but because they love to see artists fight,” he added.

Erigga concluded by urging both Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck to put aside their differences and focus on producing quality music that will inspire others and sustain the hip hop movement in Nigeria.
