A governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold economic reforms will give the party an advantage in the forthcoming 2026 governorship election.
Speaking during a meeting with the APC women’s wing in Osogbo, Ogunbiyi praised the president for his courage in implementing far-reaching reforms that, according to him, have already begun yielding positive results. He noted that the policies have stabilised the economy and restored investor confidence.
In a statement issued by his media team, Ogunbiyi highlighted the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira as key policy moves that have helped reduce fuel scarcity, improve supply chains, and ease the burden on citizens. He said, “President Tinubu’s leadership acumen and midas touch have brought about transformative changes in our nation’s economy.”
The APC aspirant stressed that the economic measures taken by the Tinubu administration were necessary to rescue Nigeria from what he described as “the brink of economic collapse.” He maintained that these efforts have saved the country from financial stagnation and opened opportunities for growth and productivity.
Ogunbiyi urged members of the APC in Osun to take pride in the achievements of the current administration and use them to connect with the electorate ahead of the next governorship election. He added that the reforms have not only improved governance but also positioned the APC as the best choice for sustainable development.
He further assured that if elected governor, he would build on the federal government’s economic agenda to enhance local productivity, support youth empowerment, and strengthen infrastructure in Osun State.
