The National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN, Ekiti Chapter, has announced plans to hold a mass protest at the main campus of the Federal University Oye‑Ekiti FUOYE on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The protest targets alleged abuses of office by the university’s Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and General Secretary, Comrades Segun Bankole and Silas Olawale, the council said its Ekiti office would be temporarily relocated to FUOYE’s main campus to oversee the protest until the demands of youth in the state are met.
NYCN explained that the action follows the exhaustion of all official channels. The council had previously submitted a detailed petition to the Presidency, relevant ministries, and national anti‑corruption and security agencies, exposing what it described as “corruption and moral decay threatening Federal University Oye‑Ekiti.”
The council insisted that Prof. Fasina should be suspended and Sen. Victor Ndoma‑Egba SAN removed as Council Chairman. NYCN also called for independent investigations of all sexual abuse cases and prosecution of offenders, suspension of the ongoing Vice‑Chancellorship selection process, and a forensic audit of FUOYE finances since 2021.
“This peaceful protest is to show President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as visitor to FUOYE, that Nigerian youth will not tolerate corruption, moral decay, or injustice in our institutions,” the statement added.
The statement further said, “We have waited long enough. The time for action is now. Effective Monday, 3rd November 2025, NYCN Ekiti will relocate its operational headquarters to FUOYE Main Campus. We will remain there in peaceful mass protest until our demands are met. We call on all Nigerian youth, students, and civil society groups to join us to end impunity and restore integrity in FUOYE.”
