The Ogun State Government has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for approving major projects in the state including a new naval base, the Olokola Deep Seaport, and other strategic developmental initiatives.

The government said the approvals show the President’s commitment to strengthening security, boosting economic growth, and expanding investment opportunities in Ogun.

In a statement, Governor Dapo Abiodun described the development as a significant milestone for the state, noting that the projects would attract more investors and create jobs for residents. He explained that the naval base and seaport would enhance maritime security and promote trade activities across the South West. “These approvals will fast track economic activities and position Ogun as a major investment hub,” the governor said.

Governor Abiodun emphasised that the naval base would improve safety in coastal communities and help curb illegal activities on waterways. He added that the deep seaport project would reduce congestion at existing ports and improve the movement of goods. He also commended the federal government for supporting the state’s vision for industrial growth and modern infrastructure.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to provide necessary support to ensure the timely execution of the projects. According to him, the state government will work closely with relevant federal agencies to ensure proper implementation and avoid delays. “We are committed to providing land, logistics and all required support to make these projects a reality,” he stated.

Residents of the affected areas also welcomed the news, saying it would bring development, improve security and create business opportunities. Community leaders expressed optimism that the projects would transform the state’s coastal region and open up new revenue streams. They appealed for transparency in project execution to ensure that the benefits reach the people.

Ogun State reiterated its continued partnership with the federal government for more developmental projects that would enhance the quality of life for citizens. Governor Abiodun thanked President Tinubu once again for prioritising Ogun in national development. He expressed confidence that the approved projects would strengthen the state’s economy for many years to come.
