The Lagos State Government (LASG) has announced that the planned rehabilitation works on the Lekki-Ajah corridor, initially scheduled to begin on November 15, has been postponed to a later date.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Lagos State, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Osiyemi, a new commencement date will be communicated in due course. The commissioner explained that while preliminary activities will continue until the end of the month, full rehabilitation works will not begin until the revised schedule is announced.
The postponement has been received with understanding by the public, with many hoping that the delay will allow for more efficient and effective execution of the project. The LASG has assured road users that it remains committed to improving road infrastructure and ensuring safer, more efficient transportation for all.
The rehabilitation works are expected to improve the overall condition of the Lekki-Ajah corridor, which is a major transportation artery in the state. The project is part of the state’s efforts to upgrade its road network and provide better facilities for commuters.
The LASG has not provided a specific reason for the postponement, but has assured the public that it will communicate a new date for the commencement of the project soon. In the meantime, road users are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect some disruptions as preliminary activities continue.
The state government has reiterated its commitment to improving road infrastructure in Lagos and has urged the public to bear with it as it works to provide better facilities for all. The government will provide updates on the project as more information becomes available.
