A total of 2,300 prospective corps members were deployed to Bauchi State to perform their mandatory one-year national service by National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for the 2023 Batch A Stream 2 service.
This was disclosed by the Bauchi State coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Rifkatu Yakubu, on Monday when answering questions from journalists in Bauchi ahead of the orientation programme scheduled to hold between April 26 and May 16.
Yakubu informed that the three-week programme for the new corps members would hold at the NYSC permanent orientation camp at Wailo Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
According to the state coordinator, only prospective corps members certified free of Covid-19 by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) would have access to the orientation camp.
“Registration dates have been assigned to each prospective corps member and they are advised to adhere strictly to Covid-19 safety measures put in place by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 and the NCDC. Defaulters will be sanctioned in accordance with the NYSC bye-laws,’’ Yakubu said.
She added that any corp members who test positive for Covid-19 would not be allowed into the orientation camp but be isolated at the NCDC centre outside the camp for treatment.
While assuring prospective corps members deployed to the state of a memorable and worthwhile experience during and after the orientation period, the state coordinator, however, admonished them not only to be punctual and diligent but also to comply with the camp’s acceptable dress code.
