In relation to the dilapidation of sections of the Third Mainland Bridge that raised the concerns of motorists over safety reasons and that the Lagos state government promised on Thursday to start fixing, the repair of the pothole-riddled sections of the bridge will be carried out on September 17 and 24.
The state had asked commuters to take alternative routes during the repair of the bridge.

The state also announced that the scheduled traffic division arrangement for the bridge has been postponed.
In a statement on Saturday, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos commissioner for transportation, said rainfall affected the “preliminaries” of the planned palliative works.
Heavy rainfall was recorded in many parts of Lagos in the early hours of Saturday, a development that resulted in flooding in some areas.
Osiyemi said another date for the repair work will be communicated to the public.
“Due to the heavy downpour experienced in all parts of the Metropolis today, the Lagos state government has announced the postponement of the planned two Sundays of palliative works on the failed sections of the 3rd Mainland Bridge, which were scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, September 17th, and Sunday, September 24th, 2023,” the statement reads.
A situation that has become a source of concern for motorists and a contributing factor to traffic.
