The National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, h as been referred for an ophthalmic investigation and brain scan.
This comes after Ajaero sustained injuries from an attack by suspected hired thugs and the police during a rally protest in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Recall that the NLC, on Wednesday, had organized a protest rally in Owerri, over the alleged insensitivity of the state government over the worker’s plight in the state.
Moments before the commencement of the protest some thugs attacked him and inflicted body injuries on him alongside some union leaders.
After the attack, police operatives whisked him away to their facility.
The leadership of the NLC had accused the state government of being behind the attack which it claimed was supervised by the state Commissioner of Police.
An update on the attack of Ajaero from the NLC media unit indicated that he has been placed on a neck collar.
The head of the information unit, Benson Upah, this night said, “Congress President, Joe Ajaero has been referred for ophthalmic investigation, a head/brain scan, a full body scan, and cervical spine therapy among other investigations.
“He is presently on a neck collar with wheels all over his skin.”
