Thomas Muller slammed his Bayern Munich team-mates after their shock DFB-Pokal second-round exit to third-tier outfit FC Saarbrucken on Wednesday evening.
Muller scored to put the German champions 1-0 ahead but the hosts pulled off an extraordinary comeback, completed by a 96th-minute winner from Marcel Gaus.
After the game, Muller was one of a select few players to speak to the Bayern fans who had travelled — and he labelled the behaviour of those colleagues who did not as “unacceptable”.
He said: “As is so often the case, the fans care more about just the result and the game. In football, you can lose a game. I have to agree with the fans.
“What’s not acceptable at all is that only three or four players end up understanding how to respect the supporters. The least you can do is to give something back.
“It’s about showing respect. We also discussed this once in the dressing room. Of course it’s unacceptable.”
