Globacom Ltd, a prominent Nigerian Telecommunications Company, has firmly rejected recent assertions suggesting outstanding interconnect charges owed to MTN.
A credible source from within Globacom has unequivocally dismissed circulating reports, emphasizing that the purported debt of N1.6 billion has been completely settled without any dispute.
The denial comes in response to a public notice shared on the Twitter page of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), signed by Reuben Muoka, the Director of Public Affairs.
The notice, issued in accordance with regulatory guidelines, conveyed the possibility of a partial disconnection of Globacom from MTN if the alleged debts were not addressed within 10 days from January 8, 2024. Subscribers were duly informed that initiating calls to MTN might be affected, while still being able to receive calls.
Glo’s response, delivered by an official, stressed the importance of conducting a thorough fact-check before making claims of indebtedness. The official vehemently contradicted the assertions made in the notice, underscoring Globacom’s history of pioneering initiatives in the Nigerian telecom industry. These initiatives include the introduction of pay-per-second billing and challenging foreign monopolies.
The Glo official concluded by dismissing the report against Globacom, highlighting the company’s status as a fully indigenous telecommunications entity and branding the allegations as both unfounded and false.
