Samuel Chukwueze who plies his trade with AC Milan in Italy has said he doesn’t want to return to AC Milan without Winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Title.

Samuel Chukwueze who featured in all Group stage matches for the Super Eagles made this known while speaking with newsmen ahead of Nigeria’s all important round of 16 clash with long time rival Cameroon

Samuel Chukwueze consolidated on the first substitute appearance against Equatorial Guinea and had since been part of the starting 11 in subsequent group A matches featuring from the start against Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau respectively.

The Winger who joined AC Milan last summer from Villarreal has now said he planned on returning to Italy with the AFCON title. As Nigeria seek to add to the 3 AFCON titles won over the years.

Looking forward to the knockout tie, Chukwueze stated he wants to go back to Milan with the trophy.

In his words:

“I can’t leave Milan to come here and not win a trophy, I really need it,” Chukwueze said via Calciomercato.

“I want to make my country proud and I don’t want to waste my club’s time for nothing. I have to fight for my position and win.”

Nigeria last played Cameroon 2019 at the AFCON tournament which took place in Egypt. In what was also a round of 16 clash. And the Super Eagles came out as winners following a brace from Odion Ighalo and a lovely Alex Iwobi’s strike. Which secured a 3-2 win for the Super Eagles.

Cameroon on the other hand will be looking for a first AFCON win against the Super Eagles since the 2000 edition which was Co-hosted by Ghana and Nigeria.

The Indomitable Lions won that particular contest via a 3-2 penalty shootout win after 120 minutes of football ended in a 2:2 draw.

Now with new set of players and managers in charge, both teams will be looking to overpower each other but definitely things will not be the same and this promises to be a mouthwatering encounter to look forward to.
