Peter Obi the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party during the last election as shown his support and encouragement to the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations AFCON 2023 Round of 16 clash between Nigeria and Cameroon later tonight, the Labour Party Presidential candidate, charged the Super to double their efforts against the indomitable Lions.

Peter Obi stated this on Saturday ahead of the kick-off of the game by 9pm.

Obi, who gained the affection of Nigerian Youths passionately following his remarkable goodwill during and after the 2023 general elections in March last year, reminded the team that Nigerians are resilient winners adding that the players carry the banner of the youths as ambassadors of the nation.

“I congratulate our dear Super Eagles for their efforts in the ongoing African Cup of Nations and for scaling through the group stage. As they go into the knock-out stage today, with a match against our friendly neighbour, Cameroon, I encourage them to double their efforts, while wishing them, and by extension our dear nation, Nigeria, a resounding victory.

“In spite of present odds and difficulties, we remain a nation of winners.

“Our football players carry the banner of our youth as ambassadors of our nation. I share and will always support their hope and the promise of the great nation we deserve and are working towards. It is POssible,” Obi said on his social media handle.

Super Eagles will be battling it out with other 15 nations that scaled through the Group stage of the tournament in Ivory Coast as they aim for their fourth title.

The contest would be the second time both countries are meeting at this stage in five years. When both team met back in Egypt 2019, with Nigeria coming out as victors with a 3-2 triumph in that encounter.

The first round 16 clash is currently on going between Angola and Namibia before Nigeria kickoff against Cameroon by 9pm.
