The declaration was made by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Olusegun Olayiwola, following a closed-door meeting with local government chairmen.
Stressing the government’s unwavering stance against crime, Olayiwola emphasized the commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.
Encouraging a united front, he urged local government chairmen and traditional rulers to work hand-in-hand to secure their domains.
The directive follows a recent explosion in Bodija, Ibadan, attributed to illegal mining activities.
The 33 local government chairmen and chairwomen, convening at the Commissioner’s office, highlighted the need to address illegal mining, land grabbing, and banditry as crucial areas requiring immediate attention for enhanced security across Oyo State.
