Despite Nigeria’s efforts, led by US-based Asisat Oshoala, their attack appeared ineffective, allowing Cameroon’s defense to maintain control.
Cameroon came close to scoring towards the end of the first half, but goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie’s brilliance kept them at bay.
In the second half, the Falcons took charge of the game, with Esther’s apparent goal ruled out for offside. Oshoala missed a crucial opportunity in the 67th minute, further frustrating Nigeria’s chances.
The introduction of Babajide Rinsola injected life into Nigeria’s attack, but both teams failed to break the deadlock, resulting in a goalless draw.
The stage is now set for the second leg, which will take place at the main bowl of the M.K.O Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Monday.
