Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has emphasized the urgent need for Nigerian citizens to take a stand against political corruption and incompetence masquerading as leadership.
In a recent statement posted on her social media platform, Ezekwesili lamented the lack of true leadership within the Nigerian political landscape. She stressed that unless citizens actively engage in demanding accountability and integrity from their leaders, the country’s trajectory is unlikely to change for the better.
“Even looking ahead to the next century, from 2024 to 2100, there will be no significant change unless Nigerians prioritise their own well-being and challenge the political charlatans who claim to lead them,” Ezekwesili remarked.
She pointed out that the current crop of politicians in Nigeria does not embody the qualities of genuine leadership. Ezekwesili urged citizens to confront this reality and take decisive action to hold their leaders accountable.
Ezekwesili’s remarks underscore the pressing need for a cultural shift in Nigeria, where citizens actively participate in shaping the country’s political landscape and demand leaders who prioritise the nation’s interests above personal gain.
