In a significant move towards modernizing government operations, the Vice President of Nigeria, Sen. Kashim Shettima, inaugurated the commencement of training on the digitalization of workflow processes within the State House.

The initiative, heralded as a fulfilment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to fostering an efficient workforce through technology, underscores the administration’s dedication to leading by example.

Representing the Vice President at the opening ceremony was Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President. Sen. Shettima emphasised the necessity of aligning government operations with contemporary realities, stating that leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to enhance public service requires a workforce adept in digital technologies.

Sen. Shettima highlighted President Tinubu’s vision to implement digital initiatives across crucial sectors, emphasising the imperative for civil servants to adapt to the evolving landscape of technology. He stressed the urgency of transitioning from outdated paper-based bureaucracies to a system that embraces digital innovation.

Acknowledging the support of President Tinubu towards the training programme, Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary in the State House, reiterated the administration’s commitment to enhancing productivity through digitalization.

He emphasized that the training program, endorsed by the President, signifies a concerted effort to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.

The Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, underscored the importance of information management in national security and governance. He outlined the objectives of the training programme, emphasising the need for civil servants to acquire skills for efficient innovation and information processing.

Participants were urged to prioritise the capacity-building programme, which aims to equip them with the necessary skills to enhance service delivery and organisational efficiency. The event, attended by high-ranking officials, including the Director-General of the State Security Service, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, marked a significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to modernising government operations.

The commencement of the digitalization initiative within the State House sets a precedent for similar reforms across the civil service, signaling a transformative shift towards a more efficient and technology-driven public sector.
