Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has highlighted a critical error made by his team during their recent Premier League match, resulting in a 1-1 draw against Brentford
Ten Hag witnessed Mason Mount’s late goal breaking the deadlock at the Gtech Community Stadium, seemingly securing victory for Manchester United. However, Brentford’s Kristoffer Ajer equalized in the 99th minute, denying United the win.
Reflecting on the match, Ten Hag expressed his disappointment with the team’s response after scoring the late goal, describing it as “absolutely unnecessary.”
“We made some mistakes, and it’s something we need to address,” Ten Hag stated in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.
He emphasized the need for a different approach in such situations, highlighting the importance of maintaining focus and concentration to avoid conceding late goals unnecessarily.
Acknowledging that the equalizer was avoidable, Ten Hag also praised the team for their resilience and fighting spirit, even though he believed Brentford showed more determination throughout the game.
Despite the disappointing result, Ten Hag commended the team’s effort in hanging on and battling until the end, acknowledging that scoring in stoppage time, although perhaps undeserved, showcased their determination and perseverance.
