UNILORIN To Force Home 19 Students For Examination Malpractices, Theft

Nineteen students, including six final-year students of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, have faced expulsion or rustication due to their alleged involvement in various offenses, as announced by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, on Monday.

The decisions, approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Wahab Egbewole (SAN), came following recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 220th and 221st meetings.

The students were penalized for a range of offenses, including misconduct, theft, examination malpractices, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, admission racketeering, and assault. Punishments varied from rustication for one semester or an entire academic session to expulsion.

The affected students, spanning across academic levels from 100 to 400, faced consequences according to the severity of their actions. Among those expelled were individuals like Amatokwu Evans of the Art Education Department, Nwachukwu Chinedu Joshua of the Biochemistry Department, Oshinboluro Temitope Joshua from Mathematics, Sulaimon Mayowa from Biochemistry, and Okanle Oluwatimileyin Samuel from Physiotherapy.





Their infractions included involvement in examination malpractices, theft, hostel bed-space racketeering and extortion, admission racketeering, and extortion.

Meanwhile, students like Adebayo Adeleke from Performing Arts, Hassan Hanan Adebola from History and International Studies, Ayodele Samuel Koseunti from History and International Studies, Toki Opeyemi Ayomide from History and International Studies, Makinde Usman Ayomide from Linguistic and Nigeria Languages, and Onibiyo Eniola Gideon from History and International Studies were among those rusticated.

Others facing rustication include Badmus Rasheedat Ajoke from Chemistry, Afolayan Damilola from Mathematics, Ajibola Oluwaseyi Temiloluwa from Engineering & Technology, Akorede Isiaka Nifemi from Mathematics, Bolanta Taiye Zainab from Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Elegede Favour Emmanuel from Physiology, Ojelabi Ibukunoluwa Michael from Anatomy, and Okeke Ruth Chinecherem from Performing Arts.
