In a significant breakthrough for Operation Hadin Kai’s efforts against insurgency in the region, troops of Operation Lake Sanity III made a startling discovery in the heart of Borno State.
Reports indicate that a hidden bread production factory belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) was uncovered within their stronghold in Maisani, Timbuktu Triangle, Damboa Local Government Area.
Intelligence sources, as relayed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, revealed that the find occurred during an exploitation mission conducted by the combined forces of the 199 Special Forces Battalion, Hybrid Forces, and Civilian JTF on Sunday.
The factory, a key resource for the terrorists, was swiftly destroyed, with troops seizing 2 Lister generating plants, 1 baking machine, and various baking materials.
This discovery unfolded amidst a week-long clearance operation targeting the Timbuktu Triangle, notorious for sheltering extremist groups such as ISWAP.
The region, encompassing Buk 1, 2, and 3, Talala, Ajigin, Dusula, Abulam, and Gorgi, has been a focal point for insurgent activities, including attacks, ambushes, and IED/mine incidents on key routes like the Damboa roads and Damaturu-Maiduguri MSR. Additionally, the extremists have targeted vital infrastructure, such as the high-tension transmission line linking Borno and Yobe State.
The finding of the bread factory underscores the multifaceted approach being employed by security forces to dismantle terrorist networks and disrupt their operations in the region.
