MRS Oil Slashes Diesel Price To N1,050 Nationwide In Response To Dangote’s Reduction

MRS Oil Plc has announced a significant reduction in the price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) to N1,050 per litre at all its outlets nationwide.

This decision comes as a response to the recent price cuts by Dangote Petroleum Refinery, with diesel previously priced as high as N1,700 per litre in some stations.

According to a flier circulating online, the management of MRS Oil Plc emphasised their commitment to maintaining the new price across all their retail outlets. They urged the public to report any station selling diesel above the stipulated price of N1,050 per litre.

“We are now selling AGO at all MRS retail outlets in Nigeria at N1,050 per litre. Any station not selling at this price, please report to customer service or a whistleblower,” the message stated.

Recall that Dangote Petroleum Refinery recently announced a reduction in diesel prices to N940/litre for bulk purchasers, which was preceded by an earlier decrease from N1,200/litre to N1,000/litre.

The refinery’s strategic partnership with MRS Oil and Gas stations aims to ensure affordable fuel prices for consumers across Nigeria, with diesel priced as low as N1,050 per litre and aviation fuel at N980 per litre.

Anthony Chiejina, spokesperson for Dangote Petroleum Refinery, emphasised the refinery’s commitment to alleviating economic challenges in Nigeria through these price adjustments. He highlighted that the partnership with MRS Oil signifies a collective effort to prevent consumers from purchasing fuel at inflated prices, extending the benefit of reduced prices to retail buyers nationwide.

The recent reductions in diesel prices mark the third consecutive decrease within a span of three weeks, indicating a concerted effort by major players in the oil industry to address the economic impact of high fuel costs. President Bola Tinubu commended Dangote Petroleum Refinery for its proactive approach to reducing diesel prices, recognising the significance of such initiatives in supporting economic welfare.
