Mattias Grafström Becomes New Secretary General of FIFA On Permanent Basis
In a significant move for international football governance, FIFA has announced the appointment of Mattias Grafström as its new Secretary General. Grafström, a dual national of Sweden and the Netherlands, takes over from Fatma Samoura, who stepped down from the position last year.
The appointment of Grafström comes after his interim role as Secretary General since October 2023, following a nomination process. This transition marks a new chapter in FIFA’s leadership and signifies a continued commitment to the global development of football.
