Adamawa State is set to enhance its educational infrastructure with the construction of three comprehensive technical colleges, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced during his fifth anniversary state-wide broadcast on Wednesday.
Governor Fintiri highlighted that the new colleges aim to increase school enrollment among school-age citizens and focus on skills acquisition, science, and technology.
“We are paying special attention to skill acquisition as well as science and technology. In this regard, I am happy to announce that we have commenced the process for the construction of three new comprehensive technical schools,” Fintiri stated.
The governor detailed that each of the state’s senatorial zones will host one of the new schools, with one specifically dedicated to girls.
Governor Fintiri emphasized the administration’s commitment to education over the past five years, driven by a passion for improving the sector. He cited numerous initiatives, including addressing the Out-of-School syndrome, providing free education, covering WAEC and NECO fees for students, building and furnishing new schools, and recruiting more teachers. These efforts aim to alleviate the economic burden on parents and equip youths with essential skills to overcome poverty.
“We believe that addressing Out-of-School syndrome, providing free education, paying WAEC and NECO fees for our candidates, building and furnishing new schools, recruiting more teachers and so on that we have been doing will ease the economic burden on parents,” Fintiri added.
He expressed optimism that these measures would significantly benefit the youth, providing them with the necessary tools for a brighter future.
