The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide (APC, Odeda), highlighted the legislative accomplishments of the 10th Assembly during a special plenary session held at the assembly complex in Abeokuta.
The event commemorated the first anniversary of the assembly’s inauguration.
Speaker Elemide announced that since its inception on June 20, 2023, the 10th Assembly has successfully passed 24 motions into resolutions and enacted seven bills into law. He also mentioned that seven additional bills are currently in various stages of the legislative process.
“The bills we have passed are crucial to the day-to-day operations of the state government, including the yearly appropriation bill,” Elemide noted. He emphasized that the assembly had promptly addressed issues of urgent public importance to enhance the socio-economic and political development of Ogun State through its resolutions.
Reflecting on the assembly’s achievements, Elemide remarked, “Today is not just an anniversary for merry-making, but a celebration of the restoration of the legislative arm’s sanctity in the state, fulfilling its core duties and responsibilities.”
The speaker expressed his gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his efforts in improving the state’s fortunes and urged his colleagues to continue working collectively for the administration’s overall success.
Lawmakers present at the plenary commended the governor for his non-interference in legislative matters, praising Elemide’s leadership for repositioning the assembly and achieving significant progress in a short period.
The special plenary was attended by former speakers of the assembly, including Muyiwa Oladipo, Titi Sodunke-Gomez, Tunji Egbetokun, and Suraju Adekunbi, who also acknowledged the assembly’s accomplishments and the collaborative efforts contributing to the state’s development.
