Governor Uzodimma Unveils Emmanuel Amuneke as Heartland FC’s Technical Manager.
The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has officially appointed renowned football administrator and tactician, Emmanuel Amuneke, as the Technical Manager of Heartland Football Club, Owerri. The announcement took place on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the New Executive Council Chambers, Government House Owerri.
Governor Uzodimma emphasised that this move is part of a strategic effort to revitalise Heartland FC, ensuring a brighter future for the club and delighting both the people of Imo State and football enthusiasts. Reflecting on his tenure since 2020, the Governor highlighted his administration’s initial success in elevating Heartland FC back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after inheriting a relegated team. However, he expressed concern over the club’s recent setbacks, necessitating a comprehensive reorganisation of its administrative and technical structure.
Governor Uzodimma expressed confidence in Amuneke’s expertise, acknowledging him as one of Nigeria’s finest in football management and technical administration. The Governor stated, “The target of the technical team is to win the Premiership and advance to Continental competition.” He reassured that his administration is fully committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the technical team’s success, aiming to restore Heartland FC to its former glory.
To facilitate seamless operations and avoid bureaucratic delays, Governor Uzodimma pledged direct communication between Amuneke’s management team and his office.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Amuneke expressed gratitude to the Governor and the people of Imo State for the opportunity to serve, promising to do his utmost to meet the set goals. He described the role as a homecoming and emphasised the collective effort required for success, driven by the objective of bringing happiness and joy to the fans.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by all members of the Imo Executive Council during an emergency Exco sitting. Mr. Amuneke was accompanied by the management and staff of the Ministry of Sports Development in Imo State.
