The 2024 National Youth Games, hosted in Asaba, Delta State, concluded on Thursday, 19th September 2024, with Team Delta emerging as the overall champions, followed by Lagos in second place, and Edo in third.

Team Delta topped the medal table for the third consecutive time, amassing a total of 111 medals, including 46 gold, 31 silver, and 34 bronze. Their consistent dominance in the competition further cemented their status as the leading team in the youth games.

Lagos State followed closely in second place, with a total of 65 medals, including 26 gold, 20 silver, and 19 bronze. Their strong showing across various sports events ensured their position on the podium.

Team Edo secured third place with a total of 62 medals, comprising 19 gold, 15 silver, and 28 bronze. Edo’s performance was highlighted by their victory in the 4x100m mixed relay, where they claimed gold. The girls’ relay team also won a bronze medal in the 4x400m event, while their wrestling and kickboxing teams added silver and bronze medals to the tally.

The closing ceremony, held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, saw the top three teams honoured for their achievements, with Team Delta receiving the championship trophy. Bayelsa, Kwara, and Ogun finished in fourth, fifth, and sixth places, respectively. Team Ebonyi was the only contingent to leave without a medal.
