Lewandowski Brace Helps Barcelona Dominate Young Boys in Champions League.

Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Barcelona cruised to a commanding 5-0 victory over Young Boys in the Champions League, extending the Swiss champions’ winless start in the competition.

The Polish striker opened the scoring just eight minutes into the match, calmly slotting in Raphinha’s low cross at the back post. Barcelona quickly doubled their advantage when Raphinha followed up a blocked shot from Pedri to fire home the rebound. The hosts were in full control, and three minutes later, Inigo Martinez headed in from close range after Pedri delivered a pinpoint free-kick.

Six minutes into the second half, Barcelona found the net once again. Martinez’s header back across the goal was prodded in by Lewandowski, securing his second goal of the evening. The Young Boys defence struggled to contain Lewandowski’s movements, with the 36-year-old becoming only the second player in Champions League history to score over 50 goals after turning 30, joining Cristiano Ronaldo in this elite club.

The visitors’ best chance of the match came when Joel Monteiro’s effort struck the crossbar, but it wasn’t enough to change the tide. In the 81st minute, Young Boys’ misery was compounded when Mohamed Ali Camara inadvertently turned Alejandro Balde’s cross into his own net. Although Monteiro thought he had pulled one back for the Swiss side in stoppage time, his goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR check.

Barcelona’s victory was driven by the brilliance of both Lewandowski and Raphinha. The Polish striker’s brace took his Champions League tally to 96 goals, while Raphinha not only scored but also provided an assist. The Brazilian winger was a constant threat, registering six shots and six key passes in a dominant performance from the hosts, a marked improvement from their 2-1 defeat to Monaco in the previous round.

For Young Boys, the defeat leaves them without a win in the group stages, following their 3-0 loss to Aston Villa in the opening match. They will need to regroup quickly to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
