Insecurity: We Will Not Rest Until Nigerians Are Safe, Says Matawalle.

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has reassured the people of the North West that the Federal Government remains fully committed to restoring peace and security across the region and the entire country. Matawalle made this promise during a comprehensive security assessment tour of Sokoto State, held as part of the government’s efforts to tackle insecurity in Northern Nigeria.

Matawalle highlighted that the government is conducting a detailed security assessment to evaluate the safety of Nigerians, stressing that efforts to secure the nation will continue relentlessly. “The president is fully committed to ending insecurity in Northern Nigeria, and we are here to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” the Minister said.

During a visit to Gundumi village, Matawalle promised that the long-closed Gundumi-Isa road would be reopened promptly, with plans to establish a military camp along the route. This initiative is expected to boost security in the area and revive local economic activities.

In Isa Local Government Area, the Minister urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing fight against banditry. He also visited Turba village, where he assured the community of additional military personnel being deployed to strengthen security measures.

Matawalle commended troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Sabon Birni for their resilience and dedication. He pledged that the Federal Government would prioritise their welfare and logistical needs. In addition, he announced the establishment of a military base between Sabon Birni and Tsamaye to bolster security in the region.

The Minister also visited several villages impacted by banditry, including Hawan Duro and Mai Lalle, where he promised residents that displaced persons would soon return to their homes. He reassured the communities that additional military personnel would be deployed to protect them.

During his visit to Goronyo Local Government Area, Matawalle reiterated the Federal Government’s determination to establish military camps along critical routes. He expressed his gratitude to the Sokoto State Government for its support in these security efforts.

Throughout the tour, the Minister emphasised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to ensuring peace and safety in Northern Nigeria. He also called on local communities to cooperate with security agencies and offer prayers for the troops defending the nation.

Matawalle’s tour underscores the Federal Government’s resolve to address insecurity and restore stability to affected regions, with a strong focus on supporting military operations and ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens.
