Governor Obaseki Dissolves Edo State Cabinet Ahead Of New Administration.
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has officially dissolved his cabinet as he prepares to hand over to Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who will be sworn in as the new governor on 12 November. Obaseki, who took office on 12 November 2016, concludes his eight-year tenure this Sunday.
The cabinet dissolution took place shortly after a valedictory session held at the Government House in Benin on Friday. The motion to dissolve the State Executive Council for the 2020-2024 term was proposed by Deputy Governor Godwins Omobayo and seconded by Osilama Okuofu, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
During the session, Obaseki expressed gratitude to the council members for their dedication and efforts in realising the administration’s vision of “Making Edo Great Again.” He extended his appreciation to the people of Edo State for their steadfast support, prayers, and collaboration throughout his tenure.
Cabinet members praised the governor for his leadership and for the chance to serve the state, recognising his significant contributions across various sectors. They took turns to reflect on his achievements and the positive impact of his administration on Edo State.
In a gesture of appreciation, the outgoing commissioners and heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) presented Obaseki with awards and gifts to honour his service to the state. The valedictory session concluded with a farewell dinner, celebrating Governor Obaseki’s legacy as he prepares to pass the baton to the incoming administration.
