Nollywood actor Nonso Diobi has shared a fascinating story of how his resemblance with veteran actress Hilda Dokubo helped him secure his first major break in the movie industry.
In a recent episode of the ‘Nollywood Hardcore’ podcast, Diobi recounted how he had been struggling to land a role after attending over 1000 auditions spanning three years. However, his fortunes changed when he went for an audition and caught the attention of Hilda Dokubo.
Diobi explained that Dokubo noticed him and requested the director to cast him as her brother in the movie due to their striking resemblance. He quoted Dokubo as saying, “This young boy looks like me. He can play my brother.”
Diobi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating that he didn’t even have to audition for the role. He credited Dokubo for giving him his first break in the industry, which paved the way for his successful career in Nollywood.
