In a thrilling London derby, Alex Iwobi of Fulham showcased his prowess by scoring twice, though it wasn’t enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat to West Ham United in the English Premier League (EPL) on Tuesday evening.
The match, which was the first under the stewardship of West Ham’s new manager Graham Potter, saw an intense battle with five goals scored in total. Fulham found themselves trailing by two goals before Iwobi, the Nigerian international, halved the deficit with a clever move in the 51st minute. His cross, intended for a teammate, evaded everyone including the goalkeeper and nestled into the net.
Iwobi wasn’t done there; he completed his brace in the 78th minute with another deceptive cross that fortuitously found its way into the goal, pulling Fulham back to within one goal at 3-2. Despite these heroics, Fulham couldn’t manage a comeback.
This season has been particularly fruitful for the former Arsenal youngster, with these two goals bringing his total in the EPL to seven, marking his highest goal tally since his emergence in the league.
