La Liga: Barcelona Thrash Valencia 7:1 To End Winless Streak

Barcelona Thrash Valencia 7:1 To End Winless Streak.

Fermin Lopez delivered a masterclass performance, scoring twice and providing two assists, as Barcelona dismantled Valencia 7-1 to end their four-game winless streak in La Liga.

The hosts made an explosive start, with Frenkie de Jong firing a low shot into the bottom corner within two minutes. Ferran Torres doubled the lead shortly after, and Raphinha calmly slotted into an empty net in the 14th minute, putting Barcelona firmly in control.

Lopez then stole the show, brilliantly controlling a long ball and finishing past Valencia’s Liverpool-bound goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. He added a second just before the break, reacting quickest to slot in after Raphinha’s strike came off the crossbar.

Valencia managed a consolation goal when Hugo Duro converted Diego Lopez’s cross just before the hour mark. However, substitute Robert Lewandowski restored Barcelona’s dominance, finishing into the bottom corner for his 17th league goal of the season. Cesar Tarrega’s own goal in the closing minutes capped off a stunning display from the Catalan side, marking their biggest La Liga win since a 7-0 victory over Real Valladolid in August 2024.

This emphatic performance follows Barca’s thrilling 5-4 Champions League victory over Benfica earlier in the week. Under manager Hansi Flick, the team has now scored an incredible 100 goals in just 32 matches across all competitions, making Flick the second-fastest manager in the club’s history to reach this milestone, behind Helenio Herrera in 1959 (31 games).

Barcelona remain third in the league, seven points behind leaders Real Madrid, while Valencia, managed by former West Brom head coach Carlos Corberan, continue to languish in 19th.

Next up for Barca is a Champions League clash against Serie A side Atalanta on Wednesday, with their last-16 place already secured.
