Arsenal Sweat Over Kai Havertz Injury As Season Run-In Approaches

Arsenal Sweat Over Kai Havertz Injury As Season Run-In Approaches.

Arsenal are facing a fresh injury concern as striker Kai Havertz undergoes assessment following a muscle injury sustained during the team’s training camp in Dubai.

There are fears that the 25-year-old may have suffered a hamstring tear, which could rule him out for the remainder of the season. Reports suggest that it remains unclear whether he will require surgery, though early indications point towards a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The club has yet to issue an official statement, and manager Mikel Arteta is expected to address the matter in his press conference on Friday ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Leicester City on Saturday.

Havertz has been a key figure for the Gunners this season, making 34 appearances across all competitions and contributing 15 goals and five assists, making him the club’s top scorer.

His potential absence comes as a significant blow, with Arsenal already dealing with injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, who are sidelined with hamstring issues, while striker Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

The growing injury crisis further exposes Arsenal’s lack of attacking options following an inactive January transfer window. Despite reported interest in several forwards, including Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, no signings were made. Arteta had previously admitted his disappointment after a rejected bid for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

With limited options, the Arsenal boss recently suggested that Havertz might have had to start every game for the remainder of the season. Now, the responsibility may fall on wingers Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling, and young prospect Ethan Nwaneri to step up in the attacking role.

Arsenal, currently second in the Premier League and trailing leaders Liverpool by six points, will be hoping to replicate last season’s post-break form, where they won 16 of their final 18 games after a similar warm-weather training camp. However, the loss of key attacking players could pose a serious challenge to their title ambitions.
