Ekiti State University Matriculates Over 9,000 Students For 2024/2025 Session.
Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) has officially matriculated over 9,000 students into its 91 fully accredited academic programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, congratulated the new students on their successful admission, highlighting the rigorous examination and screening process they underwent. He noted that over 25,000 candidates applied for admission, making the selection process highly competitive.
Professor Ayodele described EKSU as one of the most sought-after universities in the country, attributing its appeal to academic excellence, high moral standards, and the outstanding achievements of its graduates worldwide.
The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the pioneer students admitted into the Doctor of Pharmacy programme, commending the university’s management for overcoming challenges to ensure admissions into various programmes proceeded smoothly. He further revealed that the institution was preparing to introduce new academic programmes, including Dentistry and Mechatronics Engineering, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Addressing the fresh students, Professor Ayodele urged them to uphold the values of integrity and discipline by adhering to the matriculation oath. He warned against involvement in social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractice, drug abuse, and other forms of misconduct.
“Ekiti State University, under my leadership, has zero tolerance for any form of infractions or breach of rules and regulations. Appropriate sanctions will be imposed on those who flout the matriculation oath,” he stated.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, a proud alumnus of the institution, for fostering an enabling environment for quality education. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Governor’s wife, Dr (Mrs) Olayemi Oyebanji, who has been lecturing pro bono in the Department of Educational Management for over two sessions.
In a related development, during an orientation programme organised by the Directorate of Students’ Affairs, Professor Ayodele welcomed his first set of regular students since assuming office as the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor. He praised their discipline and enthusiasm, noting their early arrival and full attendance at the Main Auditorium for the event.
As part of the university’s commitment to student welfare, Professor Ayodele announced plans to enhance campus life by constructing hostels to accommodate a significant number of students, ensuring a more comfortable and engaging university experience.
