Governor Aiyedatiwa Approves Recruitment Of Over 1,000 Secondary School Teachers In Ondo.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved the employment of 1,010 teachers to address staff shortages in secondary schools across the state.

The decision follows the completion of a rigorous recruitment process conducted by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), which screened thousands of applicants last year. Governor Aiyedatiwa stated that the move was aimed at tackling the long-standing issue of inadequate teaching staff in public schools.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the list of successful candidates will be made public online and will also be displayed at the TESCOM headquarters and zonal offices across the state from tomorrow.

This initiative builds on the governor’s previous approval of 1,000 primary school teachers’ recruitment last year, further demonstrating his administration’s commitment to improving the education sector.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa has expressed concern over teacher shortages in public schools, particularly in rural areas. This recruitment process was guided by the specific needs of understaffed schools across the state,” Adeniyan stated.

In addition to addressing staffing issues, the governor recently approved the payment of ₦633 million to cover the West African Examination Council (WAEC) registration fees for 23,048 students, easing the financial burden on parents and guardians.

Furthermore, his administration has prioritised higher education development, including the recent upgrade and conversion of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, into a university of agriculture and agribusiness.

With these initiatives, Governor Aiyedatiwa continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to educational advancement in Ondo State, ensuring better learning opportunities for students at all levels.
